BLISS INFUSION: YOGA AND CHANTING RETREAT

January 17 - 21 , 2008

Pacha Mama: Air Season

Tuition: $380

Yoga in the morning and afternoon or evening chanting. A blissful experience to renew connection to self. This Chanting Retreat is a rare opportunity to join Wah!, a devotional singer in a retreat of nourishing the soul with a rich tradition of musical prayer and yoga.

Known in Sanskrit as Kirtan, devotional chanting awakens a longing in the heart for the experience of inner silence, boundless love, and union with the divine. Emerging from Hindu traditions in India, kirtan is practiced by millions of people. In recent years, pioneering musicians and seekers have brought this magical tradition to the West. Throughout the retreat session we explore a variety of chants and chanting styles, interspersed with yoga asana sessions and the sharing of stories.

The Wah! Band combines bass and drums with harmonium and electric guitar to produce pumping rhythms and seductive spirituality over a cross-cultural mix of pop, rock, and reggae.

"My name is Wah! (really!)" So writes this musician, chanter, and spiritual seeker. Wah! is a word that pervades Eastern cultures. In India it is vah . . . In Korea it is transliterated as hoe or hoa. In China, the sound includes a pitch shift. In America, it is wow. In any language, this sound expresses the experience of deep, infinite understanding and wisdom, indescribable bliss. Wah! Writes:
"I have carried the name for 23 years and I am still on that path of bliss, seeking to understand the nature of my name."
