House in PachaMama

TachaMama is not just an experience for visitors. For many it has become a lifestyle.

Choosing to be part of the PachaMama family means choosing a certain lifestyle, living with awareness and great consideration for nature. It is not merely a cheap housing solution. What keeps the commune together is a commitment to fulfill our human potential and an understanding that we are all one behind our different personalities and nationalities.

House with ocean view

Practically, this is what needs to be done to build a house here:

1. Choosing a building spot
PachaMama’s new ridge has about 30 beautiful building spots with ocean view. Upon request the village coordinator arranges an introductory tour to the ridge…

construction of a private house

2. Obtaining a building spot
The prices of the spots are between $15,000 - $30,000, depending on location. PachaMama is a non-profit organization and payments for the spots are considered donations, which support various projects in the village. Payments can be divided into smaller segments.

3. Building the house
The design of the house should be within PachaMama’s building standards, which means among other things, it should exist in harmony with its surroundings. PachaMama’s construction team will lead and guide the building process. That's means:
• Explain the process of building in Costa Rica
• Take care of the building permits
• Arrange a construction team.
• Supervise the work.
It is very important that the builder is as clear as possible about future house plans. An architectural plan is needed before starting the project. The budget must be clear and fit any future expansion plans. Take into consideration a building cost of around $600 - $800 per square meter, depending on building standards.

A house building process can take between 6-9 months from start to finish.

Selling the house

If, for any reason, a house owner decides to sell their house in the future, these are the conditions:

1. The house must be sold to someone who already lives or plans to live in PachaMama.

2. The donation paid for the building spot is non-refundable.

3. The house can not be sold for more than it cost to build. Equal price at maximum.
