The Chase after Happiness
A miserable person is one who rejects misery, is one who rejects suffering, sadness. A blissful person is one who is not afraid of suffering, of sadness, but who is so total in that, without any conflict. Not even the question of acceptance is happening. When you stop thinking that you HAVE to be happy, at that moment you’ll see the liberation in whatever is happening to you. You see that also when sadness is happening you are happy, you are free. Not the happiness that is coming to your mind when you hear the word ‘happiness’. Only then, when bliss will happen to you, you will be blissful. Before that, you don’t even have time to enjoy the bliss when it happens. Bliss is happening and immediately there is someone who is taking credit for it: “Oh, good, it happened, that means my process is happening good. How should I keep it?” Then you are just looking at the footprints of a moment of bliss. When sadness is happening, then all your spiritual alarms are waking up; how to be dis-identified, how to watch, how to be aware of the mind, of the thoughts. Rarely someone is recognizing the fact that actually to be sad totally is very joyful; that there is no difference between the peak of sadness and the peak of bliss. They are both meeting in the very depth. Most of the seekers that open a bank account to accumulate good feelings are in a struggle how to be happy. How to be happy in this weather, how to be happy in this job, so many formulas you are looking for on how to be happy. One day you’ll become tired of this game. You’ll become so tired of this chase after happiness, that you won’t care any more whether you are happy or not, whether you know what love is or not. At that moment your ego will disappear, all of it. The ordinary ego that is chasing after power and prestige, and a spiritual ego which is chasing after enlightenment, god – all of this will disappear. You’ll be left utterly naked, utterly here and now, total in your imperfection. No ‘I’ to set free. That is freedom itself. No ‘I’ that is chasing after something – and you are free!
The Other Does Not Exist
In your love, in your celebration, the other does not exist. The common sense is there, the common sense that you don’t want to be disturbed, so you don’t ‘do it’ in front of the flow of other people; but in your celebration, the other does not exist; there is nobody to show it to; there is nobody to impress, to pretend for. They might be around, but when you take the full freedom for yourself, you also give full freedom. You might find yourself celebrating your existence in a way that the logic will say: “you are crazy”; but it’s o.k. Be a little bit crazy; because love is not boring; love is not normal. There is no point about dreaming to be romantic, dreaming to be spontaneous, and when your heart suddenly wants to overflow you hold back. Allow it; allow it to wake up. Become receptive; allow this existence to come to you. Let it wash you; let it pass through you. Forget about the other. Receive; open yourself; let existence happen to you and you just watch how it is happening, how it is carrying you, how it is moving you. It’s not passing through our logic and through our conditioning. We become an instrument for it. In your love and celebration, the other does not exist. Normally, you don’t want to disturb the other so you don’t allow your full expression in front of other people. But in your celebration, the other does not exist, there is nobody to impress, nobody to pretend for. They might be around but when you take full freedom for yourself, you also give full freedom. You might find yourself behaving in a way that logic will say is “crazy.” But it’s OK. Be a little crazy because love is not boring, love is not normal. There is no point in wanting to be romantic and spontaneous and then, when your heart wants to overflow, you hold back. Allow it, allow it to wake up. Become receptive and allow this existence to come to you. Let it wash you, let it pass through you. Forget about the other. Receive, open yourself, and let existence happen to you. Just watch how it happens, how it carries you, how it moves you. It doesn’t work according to our logic and conditioning. We become an instrument for it.
Be Yourself
If you have the courage to get naked something will happen here that your imagination could never think of. I’m inviting you to get naked from your image, it is not because I want to see you naked, I see you already naked. I see already who you are behind those layers of personality. I’m inviting you to get naked, so you can see that. So you can see and be that, and realize that you have been waiting to be that all your life. Be sincere with yourself. Be true to yourself, without masks, without protection, without control, without holding back, and live life with passion, with totality, being present. And not being worried what others will think, about what you are. I’m asking you to be yourself, to simply flow, without any state of mind that is controlling it, or determining it. Without any state of mind that is saying ‘this is how you should be.’ To become totally free from this fixed idea that you should be like this or you should be like that, and just to be. When you are freeing yourself from the chains of the ideas you can flow, being who you are. When you are carrying the burden of trying to be somebody it’s a prison, simply a prison. Can you move into total acceptance? Can you let go of the effort to be somebody, and simply be this imperfect being that you are? Inviting the answer from within you, don’t take my question into your mind and think about it, I’m just inviting a decision from within you.
Problems Are Only Situations
Love Sastang
One moment of meditation One moment of deep silence, of sheer understanding All those moments of intensity in the past All those insights that you have gathered One moment of silence will take all of those and will make out of them a symphony of wisdom, a melody, a presence. All those scattered fragments, glimpses. One moment of meditation, of deep silence, will give a meaning to all of those fragments. It will collect them together. It will create a certain thread, a certain continuation that transforms the division with reality. It is like different notes, separated they have no meaning, they are dull, boring. To bring them together in the right order, they become music. They have a meaning. All those fragments of experiences you have in your life, has only domestic significance to that moment when you experienced it. One moment of meditation, one moment of silence and all those moments are getting a universal meaning, are getting a presence. It becomes a reflection of your Buddhahood.
Love Sastang
Clouds come and go, the sky is always there. When you identify with the clouds, they become more important than the sky. When you identify with your desires, your hopes, your expectations - to fulfill them becomes more important than to be in the here and now. That is the sky: To be silently here now, to remain present in the present moment. Where are you going? What do you want to get? What is it going to give you? What do you hope for, desire for? What are you afraid of? A bunch of clouds that you cannot see through. And if you could see through them, all your so-called problems and so-called tensions would fall like dead leaves from a tree. Because you will find the most and the only significant thing. You will find truth. You will find the source. Before of this you live in a conflict. Sometimes this conflict disappears, but only for a moment. Because unless you are totally here and now, it is a conflict. You might not even be aware of it. The here and now is something that exists, and if you live in the future or the past, you are causing a conflict with the present moment. This present moment is your home. Here and now, everlasting here and now. This is where you can rest. Here and now your mind cannot function. What about the future? what about the past? The mind asks those questions. You stay in that very moment, not violently, but stay in it with your consciousness. See how the mind is traveling. All your thoughts are either in the past or in the future or in another place. Never here and now. And you are not here for a very long time, 90 years? This is not very long. So to miss those 90 years is a kind of a pity, to keep on missing the present moment, isn’t it?
