Gurdjieff Sacred DancesGURDJIEFF SACRED DANCES
with Sati
May 27 - 30, 2009
Price: 180 $

G. I. Gurdjieff was an Armenian mystic and composer from the last century. In his adventurous journeys across the Orient he collected dances and music from ancient traditions and temples which inspired him to create a set of “Sacred Movements.”
According to Gurdjieff, the aim of the Movements is to assist the "harmonious development of man," by a method of "combining mind and feeling with the movements of the body, and manifesting them together."
Gurdjieff claimed that all our habitual movements, voluntary or involuntary, are an unconscious transition from one automatic posture to another automatic posture. In ordinary life it is impossible to acquire new a physical posture; the automatism of the thinking is preventing it.
Gurdjieff Sacred Dances are helping to break the cycle of automatism by introducing non-habitual movements and sequences. Taking new, unaccustomed postures enables you to observe yourself from inside and understand how the three centers (moving, emotional and intellectual) function together.
Gurdjieff Movements are practiced as a centering and awareness exercise, that activates the body meridians; and work with coordination and integration of different parts of the body.
We learn that the quality of the movement comes from stillness inside. One could say that the Movements constitute a language that our intellect cannot understand well but to which the body is sensitive.

SatiSati
Sati has worked with Gurdjieff Sacred Dances for 4 years, and for 2 years she has attended intensive Gurdjieff Movements Teachers training in India with Amiyo Devienne. In PachaMama she holds second year regular weekly classes of Gurdjieff Movements, as well as being a regular assistant in various centering and therapy groups.

SweatlodgeSWEATLODGE
May 14, 2009
Price: 40 $

This event is held by the river and families are welcome.
The sweatlodge is an ancient and pure practice with healing powers.
Red hot rocks are placed in the center of a pit inside a small, round, closed tent structure. A fragrant infusion of medicinal herbs is poured over the stones which produce a curative steam. The steam and the structure of the sweatlodge represent the womb, where life begins. The experience is taking the form of ritual ceremony, working respectfully with the essential elements (water, fire, air and earth) to create a powerful purification on many levels. Silence, prayer and tribal music support the journey.

"The Sweat lodge is one of the oldest ceremonies in the world. With it we purify and renew our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual body. After the ceremony the vital energy inside us and around us is stronger, fresher and renewed. By returning to the womb of mother earth we cleanse ourselves from all our excessive live and experience new levels of consciousness which bring inner clarity."

Authentic Movement AUTHENTIC MOVEMENT
Exposing the inner Dance
with Alaya and Tanmaya
January 12 - 14, 2009
Price: 220 $

Dance is the most fundamental of the arts, involving a direct expression of one’s self through one’s body. It is an especially intimate and powerful medium for therapy. Diving into the world of movement and sound, we are awakening our energy through free flowing dance and guided exploration of movement. Observing the connection between our body and mind, we reveal the story that our body tells and discover how movement reflects beliefs, habits and our relationship to the outside world. This workshop invokes the innate wisdom of the body through movement, expression and watchfulness. We work with various techniques of dance and rhythms, exploring different qualities of movement. We create a space for the inner, unique dance to be exposed, reconnecting us to the source of our life energy that pulses through the heartbeat and rhythm of breath. By freeing our body, we become more alive, discovering the unique expression of ourselves in a playful and creative way, calling the dancer within to lead us through the dance of life.

Mexica DanzasMEXICA DANZAS
with Ocelopan
April 13 - 19, 2009
Price: 140 $

The Aztec Dance is a cosmic dance. It is practiced with the knowledge that we are all cosmic beings. We as human beings reflect the cosmos and nature through our dance movements. Relearning to respect and acknowledge nature and all living beings. These dances are ancient and even though it's hard to get exact information about it, due to the destruction of the conquest, we can still tap into the universal knowledge to better our lives and all those around us.
There are many forms and styles of creating dance outfits and regalia. There are more natural ways in using leather and hand stiching. But we live in modern times so as a tradition who believes in moving forward, we use modern methods also. Such as using sewing machines at times or modern glues, ect. As with the dance, making the crafts takes patients and creativity. There are many ways to use feathers in the tradition. One way is through the use of headdresses or as we say kopillis. Native peoples understand the connection of the sacred flying relatives and the power of the universe. We at all times are trying to come closer to that power. Through the use of koppilis we can use the precious gift of our relatives, their feathers; we can draw that cosmic energy into the body.

The Fire Season is represented by the Horse. To the Native Americans this
animal represents power and vitality. It is the symbol of unleashing the
elemental forces, like taking a wild ride.

The forest is changing its colors from green to golden yellows
and is blooming with exotic flowers.
