Mao Tanka Hernandez Vidal’s mission is to bridge between the ancient spiritual ways of the indigenous peoples and the modern world. His interest in the wisdom and medicines of the Native tribes of North and South America was sparked in his youth in Colombia. For over 25 years he has been exploring, studying, and sharing these spiritual practices with the support and guidance of elder leaders and healers and has been recognized as a Medicine Man in various traditions. As such, he performs traditional native ceremonies such as naming ceremonies, sweat lodges, and purification rituals.
Mao’s work is a claiming of the dignity of his people’s culture and its unique and powerful spiritual tradition. He finds inspiration in the prophecy of the union of Eagle and Condor, North and South, representing the birth of a new humanity.
