Iyengar Yoga Retreat

with Vaya

  • June 25, 2023 - July 1, 2023

The Iyengar Yoga Retreat provides an opportunity to open a portal to self-realization and freedom through an individualized and supportive yoga practice while attuning to nature and the beauty that surrounds the village of PachaMama.

The Iyengar Yoga style explores the family of asanas as they were taught by renowned teacher B.K.S Iyengar.

Iyengar Yoga emphasizes precision in the asana, using props, accurate sequences and timings, to cultivate respect for the body and prevent physical injuries. A new quality of the practice is revealed through this unique lens – the quality of “effortless effort”.

For many, Iyengar’s language of yoga is a gateway into the ancient art form. Its creative use of props combined with Vaya’s meditative approach to yoga allows the asana to be embodied fully and deeply transcending the limitations of physical and mental flexibility.

Key Points of Study

A unique meditative approach using the Asana as a laboratory to observe how we manage life through space and time, the here and now, to align and to know oneself. Cooperation between the mind and body is the goal.

This Iyengar Yoga Intensive will create a container by way of daily practice including:

  • Asanas
  • Pranayama
  • Restorative yoga
  • Indoor and Outdoor (beach and river) Meditations

This work is a deep dive into the core of one’s being, exploring all of the following bodies of work:

  • Physical
  • Physiological
  • Emotional
  • Breath
  • Bliss

Through the practice of decoding, rewiring, synchronizing, and healing, this is a journey from the “self” – by oneself – to “selflessness”.

This awareness work is a great tool to be the “observer.” Observing one’s actions, non-action, and re-action facilitates the ability to learn and understand oneself on a deeper level allowing the oneness into the place beyond space and time.

Testimonials

I recently had the great opportunity to participate in this magical retreat. To someone like myself who is just beginning the exploration of Yoga, I felt challenged but at the same time was able to be fully immersed in every class. Not only was the instruction clear but the ideas behind why we do these asanas and in which order. The breath behind it, the inner quiet. All were brought together in a beautiful dance. Also, we actually danced, sang, and walked out into the nature that is all around us. The transformation that I experienced was very deep, not only physically but emotionally and spiritually. I am excited to continue to work with Vaya Yoga and to join the upcoming event in November. #PuraVida

Vaya’s yoga retreat was one of the most transformational experiences I’ve been through. I could feel my body changing each day with the way I felt when I moved, walked, and when I practiced yoga. I learned to carry myself differently – lighter and with more balance even when I was just walking from one side of the room to another. I felt myself come into my whole body and be able to take myself out of my head which I realized is where I had been most of my time.

She really pushed us all but it made me realize how much strength I do have in my physical body and she really made me aware of how to use it in order to release different areas in my body and pass through limitations I set for myself in my mind.
Her presence and her character itself created such a beautiful container for me to move through my process and practice as I genuinely felt supported and cared for by her.

It was an incredible journey to be a part of and go through.
Thank you so much, Vaya.
